The Challenge
A public school district near Fort Worth, TX, Northwest Independent School District (NISD), experienced rapid growth and wanted to ensure its best practices stayed intact as more schools and educators were added.
The Response
Using Mira Education’s collective leadership framework, NISD introduced and calibrated the use of processes that schools could use to identify school-level problems of practice (PoPs) aligned to their School Improvement Plans, design and implement plans to address those opportunities, and engage in learning within and across schools.
The Impact
Each school within the district at the time engaged in this work – resulting in a sustainable model and culture of improvement and innovation, and improved student outcomes. New challenges were also met with co-ownership and accountability as collective leadership practices and PoPs provided a process for collaborative solutions.
Educators also learned how to showcase the results of a variety of programs implemented within each school and provide better data on what worked and what didn’t – helping to better lead and share best and promising practices across the district through a principal PLC.
